Our Birth
“It’s a people business,” says co-founder Martin Smith. It all began with this ethos in 1992 when Martin and his business partner, Tony Smith, started the company.
A fine craftsman by trade, Martin took an apprenticeship with a bespoke cabinet maker when he was 16. In 1982 he shifted his focus to kitchens, spending 11 years with Cambridge-based Kitchen Consultants.
It was there that he became a designer and met Tony Smith, who a decade later would become his partner in the Kitchensmiths venture.
After much consideration, it was Martin’s father-in-law who came up with the name that to this day is synonymous with quality kitchens in Cambridgeshire and beyond.
